An intimate and authentic Japanese izakaya with a focus on Japanese sake and a good variety of food options. Staff were friendly and provided great advice on the type of sake to drink. The dishes were simple, but overall cooked well. In particular, the Scallops Fry and Deep Fried Prawns. The sashimi was also quiet fresh. Overall great ambience and a worth visiting. Will be back again in the future 👍😋

Nomidokoro Indigo is a must-visit! You are greeted with an incredible welcome from the moment you step inside. It instantly feels like you're part of the family. The service is impeccable, and the staff have outstanding menu knowledge and guide you with your ordering. The food – it's simply outstanding. Each dish is a work of art, beautifully presented and flavorful. The dishes are beautifully presented, and the portions are perfect. The Sake - the staff are super knowledgeable about all the Sake. Let them choose which ones to have with your courses. It's recommended and well worth it. The restaurant is small, so be mindful of that when booking. We have been there as a couple and had a great night out. We also booked the entire restaurant for an event, which was perfect. Definitely worth checking out. Enjoy!

I LOVE AN IZAKAYA! After looking at many options for Izakaya’s in Sydney I landed on Nomidokoro Indigo, as it was the least sushi influenced I could find and had the most appealing menu (to my tastes). I had the tako wasa, croquettes, duck, eggplant (on special), scallops with butter, miso salmon, and onigiri.( I figured I should have it all since I wasn’t sure I would ever be back). The food and service were so good! Although I don’t drink - the sake menu was also spectacular and if you do drink I definitely recommend asking the server for the best pairing. It is a small place and busy so best to make a reservation as well.

We decided to come and try this restaurant after seeing some foodie talking about it on instagram. The place is almost a hole in a wall. It is very narrow, with 10-12 seats and a standing table in a small nook towards the back. The toilet is nice by the way - it is a proper Japanese toilet that is incredibly clean, with warm seat and automatic bidet. Anyway, back to the food. The menu is typical of bar menus in Japan. Not too many items and they are mostly seasonal. I like how they presented the sake menu - on a large sake bottle! I really liked that. We ordered a range of things, from the marinated cream cheese that went well with the sake, to fried prawns (my favourite) and yellow fish, and stewed chicken (my least favourite). We also had sashimi of salmon and kingfish, which was so well cut, presented and market fresh. Overall the quality of the food is exceptional. The food are pricy though, so it is a special occasion only kind of place for me. Atmosphere and service was very cool and cosy. Everyone are seated in a squished space - there are hardly room for all your dishes. I really liked how they have a container under our chairs for us to store your belongings. There are also coat hangers for your coat along the wall. I like the way how the restaurant maximises it’s amenity for their customers. The staff members are extremely friendly and helpful in helping us to select our food. Overall, it is a delightful place to visit. I really enjoyed this evening. Thank you so much.

Cute little izakaya with a decent selection of sakes. The staff are really hospitable, with great suggestions for sakes and food to try. The cream cheese and pickles combo suggested did pair nicely. Very limited seating indoors, probably around 12 so bookings recommended.

An authentic Japanese restaurant with lovely staff. The food is delicious, and I absolutely love their yuzu fruit wine and foamy-topped beers. The service was excellent, and the chef's explanation of their sake ice cream made it taste uniquely perfect! A delightful experience overall!

It is one of the best small Japanese restaurants. It truly feels like you are transported to Japan with the fit out of the store and the atmosphere that they set. The food is also very delicious. The octopus portion is a bit small but has good flavours. The duck breast is probably the champion for our first try. Very succulent and tender. The school of prawns is good but becomes a bit too salty towards the end, probably due to the salt falling down from the top. Sake ice cream is unique and definitely one that need to be tried. We didn't drink the sake or alcohol, and our experience is still pretty good. Really recommended place.

This restaurant is ideal for any fellow hobbits. Its tiny dishes, cutlery set and miniature furniture would make any hobbit feel right at home in Hobbiton but I have to say I like their sake menu. It is on a creatively large sized sake bottle that would get any human merry. For the human out there, be prepared to order at least 6 dishes for two of you that is if you are intending to appease your grumbling belly. In short, food deliciously small and atmosphere is great including the rest room with its remote control toilet.
